What do you do when there is a chill in the air, and the leaves are falling? Warm-up and invite your friends and family for some classic cocktails, or impress them with a new drink or two! We've put together a list that are not only some of our favorite cocktails, but will add some fun flair to your next dinner party!
Shaken, not stirred. You can't get much more classic than a martini, but we've discovered an addition that even the most Bond like of connoisseurs will love. Salty Bitters. Some may raise an eyebrow, but these bitters add that punch of brine you're missing from the otherwise classic martini, without tasting like an overabundant amount of olives. Trust us, once you try it, you will never mix another martini without them. We prefer Blackwater Bitters Company located in Lynchburg, VA for all of our cocktail bitters. They are consistently top-notch as well as made in small batches (our namesake) so we especially love them.
For us fall is synonymous with campfires, and one of our favorite campfire drinks is a Hot Toddy. It warms your soul, and encompasses all of the flavors of fall. I stole this recipe for the Hot Toddy from my Mom, who has been making us Hot Toddies (with or without the whiskey) for a long time. I updated the recipe, switching a traditional lemon wedge squeezed in with Orange Bitters and a twist of orange peel, and I have to say it was a great switch.
We find excuses to pop some bubbly any chance we get! We believe everyday has something to be celebrated. Sometimes though, a crisp glass of champagne or prosecco could use a little upgrade. Impress the girls on your next ladies night with the Lavender French 75. Champagne or bubbly of choice, topped off with gin and Lavender Bitters (can you tell we love them yet?) is refreshing, light, and perfect for an impromptu celebration.
Break the routine and shake up something new! If you try any of our recipes we'd love to know how you liked them! Share it with us by posting on Instagram or Facebook and tagging @shopatsmallbatch.
Happy weekend!
